Women of Wonder Day 2011

Once again PDXYAR has been invited to participate in Women of Wonder Day (previously Wonder Woman Day) being held at Excalibur Comics. This is the six year for this fabulous event which raises money for Domestic Violence charity programs. It has been so successful that from 2006-2010, the five Wonder Woman Day events raised over $110,000.

PDXYAR is excited to again mix Mandalorian Mercenaries, super heroes, super villains, stormtroopers, Starfleet and a bunch of Browncoats just in the from the black.  Believe it or not, those are just some of the highlights for Women of Wonder Day.  This popular Portland event that brings together diverse pop culture groups, comic book artists, comic strip artists, animation artists and special guests all for the benefit of four domestic violence programs.

Women of Wonder Day is a kid friendly event features a bevy of artists, including many doing signings and sketches.  As well, you can have your picture taken with a real super hero, place a bid in the silent auction, win prizes and even sing some karaoke.

This year you can visit with, not only PDXYAR, but the Mandalorian Mercs of the Seron Clan, the PDX Browncoats, the cast of Trek in the Park, the Alter Ego Society, and the Cloud City Garrison of the 501st Legion.

Olde Towne St Helens- The Halloween Towne Gathering

Come out on Saturday and join the likes of PDXYAR, the Cloud City Garrison of the 501st Legion, the Mandalorian Mercs and other crews associated with the Portland Pirate Festival for the Halloween Towne Gathering.

Beyond the Halloween flavored fun of this event we will be attempting to break world record for Largest Halloween Gathering.  To do so we will have to beat Bloomington, Indiana’s 2009 record of 508 people in Halloween Costumes gathered in one place.  So, suit up and head for St. Helens!

Registration for the Guinness World Record™ attempt begins at noon with the count will be conducted between 5pm and 7pm.

Parking

If you are unable to find parking at the event site, extra parking is located at St. Helens High School & Lewis & Clark Elementary School.  Free Park and Ride will be offered from 3pm-9pm to Olde Towne. The stops include St. Helens High parking lot,Lewis & Clark school parking lot and Olde  Towne’s Court House Plaza.

This is the fifth year for the free event and the previous four have raised over $89,000 for Bradley Angle and other domestic violence programs as a part of National Domestic Violence Month.
